HFFN
2021
An interesting program is being developed by the committee. Keep in touch for details.
2020
2020 will be the year of the fire. We are planning field days to look at the effects of fire on properties and how to manage the forest after a fire. We hope to revisit some sites from last year that have now been burnt, some sites that are regenerating and some that have been very heavily burnt.
March 22 – Nabiac. CANCELLED Visit a forest that was burnt extremely hot – sufficient to kill large trees. Look at any early regeneration and discuss management options. For details secretary@hffn.org.au
May 31 – Monkerai. CANCELLED Look at management options before a fire. A property that has had no fire for 20 years.
September 27 – Wingham. Revisit a rainforest after the fire. Look at recovery and management options. Field report coming.
December 13 – Pokolbin. A surprising large property with rainforest creek and forested ridges. Field report coming.
Mentoring Program. Our mentoring program continues as regulations allow. If you have any questions about management or establishment of trees, join our mentoring program. We will organise for some of our members to come and visit. Lean on a fence post and have a chat. All for the price of joining HFFN. Go to our Mentor tab or Membership tab.
